Discount Fitness Equipment Can Fill Your Home GymEverybody wants to save money, so consider purchasing discount fitness equipment. Most likely, there's a shop right in your area which will offer used sports equipment. It's a good deal, because so many people have good intentions, but never follow-through on anything. Or, they bought the equipment, and now the economy has gone sour and they need that money to pay for the rent that month. So, they take the brand-new machine they just bought a few months ago, and they sell it. Another good place to look for discount fitness equipment is on Craigslist, particularly if you live near to one of the cities that are served by Craigslist such as Phoenix, where I live. You just go to Craigslist, click on the appropriate category, then type in something like, "keys fitness equipment" if you like Keys.
What will come up is any page where someone is selling used equipment which could be used to build your home gym. You have children? In that case, you might consider looking up "kids fitness equipment" on Craigslist. It will search for any page which matches all three words, so if you have no hits with that many words, try shortening the number of words in the Craigslist search engine. There's no better way of purchasing discount fitness equipment that's also excellent quality, oftentimes because people are forced to sell this stuff or they're going to soon be booted out of their apartment. Because elliptical equipment is so big, second-hand sports stores generally don't carry them; but Craigslist would; although both are good places in which to purchase discount fitness equipment. You'd just have to get a vehicle that's big enough to haul it out of there and get some big strong friends who will help. If you're interested in getting abdominal fitness equipment, they're much smaller in size, so they're perfect things to search for in second-hand sports stores (like Play-it-Again Sports). Buying things second-hand is good because sports equipment is utilitarian. Who cares if it has a scratch or two on it? Sometimes pads wear out. It's very easy to replace one of those pads. If you see a piece of equipment, and the only problem seems to be that the leatherette stuff which covers the pads is worn out and has holes in it, it's incredibly simple to fix those pads. If you go to any cloth store, you can buy fake plastic leatherette material. It's vinyl with a cloth backing to make it stronger. However, how about if you replace those plastic leatherette coverings with real leather, instead? Real leather absorbs moisture, so just get a good quality Neatsfoot oil, or a waterproofer for leather and rub it in. Any leather store carries liquids which completely seal leather, too. Just call around and see what they have. I have a lot of leather stores in my area, living in Mesa, Arizona, like I do. Leather will last forever, it will look fantastic and you'll never know the difference if you purchase black leather. There's absolutely no reason that discount fitness equipment shouldn't look good-as-new in a jiffy. To install the leather, remove the screws on the bottom of the unit, Unwrap the leatherette that's currently bad and look to see how it is put together. It might have a piece of fiberboard that is stapled, with leatherette around it, onto the top piece. Or, it might just have the leatherette pulled around to the back and stapled onto a piece of wood (one side will be like that, anyways). Because they know that gyms will need to replace these pads quite often, they make them easy to remove. If you find that it can't easily be refinished, the companies always carry cheap replacement pads, just in case. |
